New Work 2013

The Self-portraits and Cups are part of ongoing series that involve aging and household items, respectively.

The pastel series, Atomic Flowers, are about what flowers might look like after a cataclysmic event.

The new 3-D work involves wood, paper, drawing, pastel,  resin and steel.  The cabinets are somewhat functional but are more about ritual than furniture.  They have incorporated drawings and sculptural appendages.

New direction

The wood and resin work continues to evolve.  There is something about capturing an idea, in a liquid material that turns solid, that really intrigues me.  The resin can be colored, transparent, layered. The possibilities, to me, are limitless.  Recently I wanted to have some hand drawn elements.  I started by using fragments of older drawings and incorporating them in the resin.  Dissatisfied with the results, I started to draw--again.  My hand is not as steady but the results have been very encouraging.  I am listing the sizes, as most of them are smaller than I have been working.

New Cabinets

The Gallery at Dungeness Design in Sequim

I am currently exhibiting my new work at a new alternative space in Sequim. Architect Karla Forsbeck (fellow Cal graduate) owns and operates the gallery. It is a turn of the century (1900) house that she has remodeled and where she has her office. The work has punch and is a nice contrast to the gray days of winter. However, when the sun shines you feel like you could be anywhere. Titles of pieces above, Strait Mist, Incubator, Fall.

New work, 2011

This is a new series of works that involve looking at landscape in a different way. The work is about the physical elements of landforms as well as the metaphorical. They are constructed with sticks, branches and various wood that I find from the property where I live. Colored epoxy resin is also used as a painting element that binds the elements together. The works are modest in size ( 12" to 18 " on a side)
